Are the Meals available under “Red” in the Covid Protection Framework (traffic light system)?

Yes. Meals are already takeaway so there will be no difference. Please wear your mask and stand at a distance from others.

Can anyone make a referral for meals?

Yes. Monday Community Meals are made with love for any whanau in our community regardless of circumstance or financial ability.   


Can I get a meal if I have not signed-up?

Yes, you can – we will happily help you sign-up when you come.


Do I need to pay?

Payment is not necessary to receive a meal. However, you are welcome to donate at any time.


Can you cater for gluten free or vegetarian?

No, we do not cater for special dietary requirements


Can my whole family get a meal?

Yes, simply arrange meals for yourself and your family members in the ‘request a meal’ form. 


How long can I get meals for?

We meet your need. Some people come for long periods while others for a short time. 


Can our family eat in the dining room?

We have closed our communal dining room in favour of handing out Takeaway Meals for the moment.


Can I take extra meals away?

Extra meals are not offered as we want to make sure that all people who come are fed.


How many meals do you make – like will there be enough for us?

We prepare up to 120 meals each week and have not been short yet!! The ‘request a meal’ form is super helpful for numbers of meals to make.


How are the meals funded?

The Trust relies on public donations, successful Grant Applications, and donated goods from businesses and organisations to fund the Monday Community Meal Programme. 


Do you have food parcels?

No – we do not offer food parcels. Whitianga Social Services offer a one-off emergency food parcel.


Do you have emergency food available?

Frozen meals are available where an emergency need arises - especially if referred by other Social Agencies, Police, Doctors, Schools and Churches and the like.
